In order to build a community, a church needs a clear commitment to a mission. Dietrich Bonhoeffer observed that “the more genuine and the deeper our community becomes, the more will everything else between us recede and the more clearly and purely will Jesus Christ and His works become the one and only thing that is vital between us”. Without a rallying point, a reason to be together, the group has no reason to be a group. Churches without a clear sense of purpose or mission don’t have a bright future. The compelling vision is crucial. The ingredient for building a community is a clear vision. A vision is an image, a picture of what we are trying to become! We must value community and celebrate it at every moment we can! It doesn’t just happen. It must be cherished and valued. Thank you, Lord, for Valley Church. How good and pleasant it is when brothers live together in unity. For there the Lord commands His blessing!
