“Lift up your heads, o ye gates, and let the King of glory enter in!” “Out of the mouth of babes and sucklings Thou hast perfected praise” (Matthew 21:16). Over the years I’ve noticed that often when few people are being led to Christ in our church, it was due to the lack of a spirit of praise. When this happens, our solution is to confess our sin, ask pardon and take on the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness. When we are dull and sad, we can’t win people to the Saviour. The character of the Lord and the power of the Holy Spirit working through our lives will give evidence of our Saviour, Jesus. The joy of the Lord is our strength. For the believer in Christ, the joy of the Lord comes as naturally as grapes on a vine. As we abide in Christ, the True Vine, we, the branches, are full of His strength and vitality, and the fruit we produce, including joy, is His doing. It’s hard to resist someone who is genuinely full of the joy of the Lord!
